Liverpool’s improved bid for Lavia rejected by Southampton
Southampton have rejected Liverpool’s improved bid for midfielder Romeo Lavia.
We understands the offer from the Merseysiders was still below an initial £40m, with Saints wanting £50m for the Belgian international.
The total package was closer to that asking price but if a compromise can’t be reached, Liverpool are considering alternative options, which include Andre of Fluminense.
Liverpool table improved Lavia bid | Fluminense’s Andre an alternative option
Liverpool have tabled an improved bid for Romeo Lavia but are concurrently exploring a deal for Andre of Fluminense if Southampton’s valuation for their teenage midfielder remains excessive.

Klopp rules out Liverpool move for Mbappe
Jurgen Klopp has dismissed the idea of Liverpool signing Kylian Mbappe from this summer.
The Merseyside club had been touted as a potential loan destination as Paris Saint-Germain and Mbappe look to find a solution for the final year of his contract.
PSG do not want to let him leave for free when his deal expires next summer although he was not interested in discussing a potential one-year move to Saudi Arabia last week after Al Hilal lodged a world-record £259m bid – and now Klopp has ruled out a move to Liverpool
“We laugh about it,” Klopp exclusively told Sky Germany. “I can say that I think he’s a really good player but the financial conditions don’t suit us at all. I wouldn’t like to ruin the story now…but as far as I know, there’s nothing to it.
“It’s possible that someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me…that hasn’t happened in the eight years that I’ve been here. That would be the first time.”
Al Ittihad sign Fabinho in £40m deal
Al Ittihad have completed the £40m signing of midfielder Fabinho from Liverpool.
The Brazilian has signed a three-year deal with the Saudi Pro League side.

Thiago and Bajcetic miss Singapore trip
Liverpool duo Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic have not travelled with the squad to Singapore in order to work on their recovery from long-standing injuries.
Fellow midfielder Fabinho’s absence from the party was expected as he is awaiting confirmation of a £40million move to Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad.
However, it is understood Thiago and Bajcetic, who did travel to the camp in Germany when Fabinho did not, have been given more time to complete their rehabilitation from hip and adductor problems.
With captain Jordan Henderson having already completed his £12m transfer to Al Ettifaq, it leaves manager Jurgen Klopp short of options in midfield for matches against Leicester and Bayern Munich.
