The base iPhone 12 may be the easiest of the four members of the new iPhone 12 family to overlook. It’s not a huge difference in size, it doesn’t feature the most advanced camera system, and it’s the most iterative in terms of updates in the new portfolio. This isn’t just an improvement to the iPhone 11; it establishes a new rung in Apple’s lineup by starting at a significantly higher price. It may appear to be a step up from the iPhone 12 small, but the distinctions between these models, like the two sizes of Apple Watch, are more about personal preference than capabilities.

iPhone 12 Summary

The iPhone 12 is more expensive than its predecessors, but it comes with a brilliant new HDR OLED display. It has nearly all of the features of the iPhone 12 Pro, with the exception of some photographic capabilities, but should be sufficient for most people. Apple has back to a flat aluminum frame, but the iPhone 12 is expected to be more robust thanks to the front-facing Ceramic Shield material and IP68 classification.

The gadget comes with the A14 Bionic SoC, which makes everyday use exceptionally smooth and snappy, but it does grow heated when stressed. The battery life is adequate, but not exceptional, and you’ll be able to use it for a full day. The iPhone 12 is a light and easy-to-handle device. iOS 14 introduces a number of new customization and privacy features.

There are two 12-megapixel rear cameras, one with a wide-angle lens and the other with an ultra-wide-angle lens. Night mode is now available on all cameras, including the front one, and still and video images are remarkably crisp and detailed both during the day and at night.
