How to Save Videos on Facebook to Your Phone or Computer
Facebook would prefer that you just go back to the social media platform to watch the video again, so it doesn’t make it simple to download videos to your phone or computer.
Facebook would prefer that you refrain from downloading video, but it doesn’t mean you can’t.
In actuality, you can store video from your computer, iPhone, or Android device.
Save, or “bookmark,” a video on Facebook for later
Before we get to permanently downloading films from Facebook, though, there may be instances when you simply want to save a video within Facebook so you can more easily watch it later. Consider it similar to “bookmarking” a video.
- Find a video you want to save for later.
2. Tap or click the three dots in the post’s upper right corner.
3. Tap or click “Save video.”
Later, when you want to return to the video, all of your saved videos will be stored in one place:
- On a computer, click the Facebook icon at the top left of the window. Click “Watch,” and then click “Saved Videos.”
- On a phone, tap the three horizontal lines (known as a “hamburger menu”) and then tap “Saved.”
Save a video to your iPhone or Android device
The standard Facebook app does not allow you to save videos to your phone, however a handful of third-party apps do allow you to save videos directly to your phone’s Camera Roll. Friendly for Facebook is one program that functions very well for both Android and iPhone users.
You only need to be aware of one thing about Friendly: It downloads and stores video to your phone. Friendly accomplishes a lot and is designed to merge the functions of Facebook and Messenger into a single app.
- To start, download Friendly for Facebook.
2. Open the app, then select Add Account.
3. Select Facebook if the app asks which service you wish to connect to.
4. Sign in to Facebook with your regular Facebook login information.
5. After logging in, you can use Friendly rather than the official Facebook app; it will largely function and appear the same as the app you are accustomed to.
6. To save a movie to your phone’s photo and video library, hit the cloud-shaped download button in the lower right corner of the screen when you find one you wish to save. (For some videos, the download button might not be visible until you start the video.)
Save a video on your computer
We don’t advise utilizing any third-party software or websites to try to download video on your computer, unlike your phone. Many of these are unreliable, may include malware, or make an effort to trick you into paying for extra services.
There is an other method you can utilize to get video straight from Facebook.
- Find the video you wish to save.
2. After the video begins to play, select “display video URL” from the context menu by right-clicking on it.
3. Click and copy the video URL that appears (select the text and choose CTRL-C).
4. Copy the URL and paste it into a new browser tab. Don’t hit Enter just yet.
5. Substitute “mbasic” for the “www.”
6. Key in the new URL to make it appear in the browser. The video will show up for you in a mobile device-friendly version.
7. After the video has begun playing, right-click it and select “Save Video As.”
8. After naming the video, click Save.
Your computer will now save the video.
